In Edit Mode, subdivide the mesh a couple of times by clicking and dragging, adding wrinkles, shrinking cloth around objects, and mixing softbody and cloth effects. To get some good floppy and flexible fabric, you'll need to subdivide it several times – about eight is a good number.
